The Era of Trump has been a very uncomfortable time for the Euroelites who want nothing more than to be handmaidens to their U.S. masters and have their nations serve as appendages to U.S. imperialism. I remember a photo of then German chancellor Angela Merkel looking up apprehensively at her master, then president Obama, after it became public that the NSA was capturing her cellphone conversations- the better for Obama to manipulate and control her. She was nothing but a loyal poodle suffering anxiety over her relationship to her master. Of course the supine rulers of Europe took the NSA spying (which was no revelation to me, this is what the NSA does, spies on everyone and everything, including the entire U.S. population, which the U.S. power establishment pretends isn't happening) lying down.
I thought
that Trump would force the Europeans to at long last become independent
of the U.S. It's been 81 years since World War II ended in 1945, and
it's about time Europe became independent. The Euroelites are still very
reluctant to accept independence from the U.S., but Trump has been
forcing independence on them. Not because he wants to help them with
tough love, just that he hates Europe, he's a xenophobe, and he projects
the fact that he's a ripoff artist onto others. He FEELS that Europe
has been "ripping us off" because the U.S. has a gigantic military
industrial complex, which it uses as a weapon of global domination.
Trump thinks Europe is parasitically taking advantage of U.S. military
power. But that is the system the U.S. designed. The U.S. wanted to
dominate Europe after World War II and block the Soviet Union from
expanding its influence. The U.S. wanted Europe to be dependent on the
U.S. militarily. That is why it is particularly perverse for Trump to
claim the Europeans have been "ripping us off for years" as he puts it,
which is to say, since 1945, but because his grasp of history is very
minimal, he doesn't have the exact year in his brain. That's why he only
ever says "for years."
Trump actually threatened to steal
land from a NATO and EU member. He threatened to seize Greenland from
Denmark, by military force if necessary. Incredible. All the rules and
norms and understandings of decades are completely trashed by Trump.
He has been very destabilizing to the U.S.' relationships with its
allies (subaltern imperialists). Given that by the time he's done,
assuming he will finish his second term and not become fully a dictator
and manage to stay as president past January 20, 2029 (as he attempted
to do by various criminal means, including by staging an invasion of
Congress by a violent mob on January 6, 2021 to try and prevent the
formal acceptance of the Electoral College vote for Biden-Harris), he
will have spent eight years destroying much of the basis of U.S.
domination by weakening key alliances. He even treated Canada with great
hostility, attacking it with tariffs and threatening to annex it as a
51st U.S. state.
After Trump, probably the U.S. and Europe
will try and put Humpty-Dumpty back together again. But things won't be
exactly the same. I think that is a good thing, but Trump deserves no
credit, because he has ill intent, not any benign motive.
For
anti-imperialists like myself, it is not bad news that Trump has
weakened U.S. imperialism by undermining its alliances and driving
wedges between the U.S. and long time lackey nations. But the U.S. is
still the most powerful nation, still exerts malign influence, still
causing great human suffering- currently by supporting Israel's genocide
against the Palestinian people and its crimes in Lebanon, including
depopulating part of the country, rendering a fifth of the population
homeless, and systematically exterminating emergency rescue and medical
personnel and bombing hospitals and the headquarters of the emergency
response organization. This is referred to by U.S. and other Western
propaganda companies, with tremendous dishonesty and cynicism, as
"fighting Hezbollah" without letting people unwisely relying on these
propagandists for understanding reality to know what is actually
happening in Lebanon and the world.
Trump has been a godsend
for China. It continues to grow its power, while Trump undermines the
U.S. and strips the western Pacific of weaponry needed to counter China
in order to wage Israel's war on Iran, one of the stupidest moves in the
annals of U.S. imperialism.
Africa and poor Asian nations are
suffering not only from Trump's mindlessly vindictive tariffs
("everybody has been ripping us off!"), but from the virtual elimination
of aid programs for the poor people of those nations. In this and other
ways Trump has practically destroyed U.S. "soft power."
Trump has
done his best to back fascists in Latin America- and that is hardly
unique to him. All U.S. presidents do that. He's done it too blatantly,
since he's crude, dumb, and oddly incompetent, belying his success in
amassing wealth and power. Obviously something is very wrong with U.S.
society. Kidnapping the president of Venezuela (Nicolas Maduro) and his
wife, and indicting a former president of Cuba (Raoul Castro) may be
firsts. I'd have to research that.
Trump is also making the
people of Cuba as miserable as possible, to the delight of his gusano
Secretary of State, the loathsome Marco Rubio. The U.S. is waging actual
war on Cuba by maintaining a naval blockade of the island to cut off
all oil shipments. This means for the people of Cuba going back in time
before electricity existed. Babies reliant on hospital incubators have
already died, to cite what is the most heartless, vicious, and cruel
result. At the same time, Cuba is called a "terrorist state." This is
how diseased the minds of American imperialists are.
Well,
every empire is evil, because empires are criminal enterprises. They are
not "glorious." They are anti-human. They use force and violence, and
the threat of force and violence, and other means of coercion, to
dominate, extort, subjugate, and exploit the resources, land, and labor
of their victims. It is no different from the Mafia demanding
"protection money" from businesses- to be "protected" from the Mob's own
violence! Imperialism is gangsterism on a much larger scale, and
thickly layered with pretentious guff about civilization and
advancement. Not too long ago the subjugated (and frequently massacred
and sometimes exterminated) victims were referred to by the "civilized"
imperialists as "barbarians" and "savages," and also pagans and heathens
who needed to be forcibly converted (i.e. brainwashed) to abandon their
own religions and adopt the religious fantasies of their conquerors.
This brainwashing continues to this day, via "missionaries."
"Hey
Jason!," you might say, "What about the Middle East?" Ah, very
important. To limit the length of this essay, I will have to devote a
separate piece to that. For now, I'll say: Not Good.
I leave
you with what to my mind is the best quote by Mohandas Gandhi (his name;
"Mahatma" is a title). He was asked what he thought of British
civilization, Britain being the subjugater of India. "I think it would
be a good idea," he replied. BAM!
By the way, the U.S.
establishment's favorite Brit, Winston Churchill? He was notoriously
racist against Indians, who provided large numbers of troops to fight on
the Allied side in WW II, and he caused a murderous famine in India.
What a hero for the ages! Granting he was an effective leader and great
orator. Another great orator was Adolf Hitler. And he was very
successful too, until 1943 anyway. Then things started going downhill,
in a big way. C'est la vie, all you murderous dictators!
