"No One Is Above The Law," Except Untouchable Joe Biden

When Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi announced on September 24th that she was siccing her political underlings on president Donald J. "Jackass" Trump to trump up excuses to impeach him, one of the hackneyed political themes in the canned announcement she intoned was "No one is above the law."

Except, apparently, Democratic Party poohbahs like Joseph Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, et al.

The Clintons ran a super-grifting operation called the "Clinton Foundation," which collected BILLIONS of dollars from foreign governments and corporations (domestic and foreign), including millions of dollars from Russia that resulted in Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signing off on a deal allowing Russia interests to buy 20% of the U.S.' uranium reserves. [1]

As for Biden, when he was vice president in the regime of Barack "The Drone Assassin" Obama, Obama put him in charge of dealing with the Ukraine after the U.S. seized its government and made it into a newly-minted U.S. quasi-satrapy.  PURELY COINCIDENTALLY, the Democrats and most of the U.S. corporate media want us to believe, Biden's neer-do-well son Hunter was appointed to the board of directors of Ukrainian gas company Burisma, owned by a Ukrainian plutocrat, with "compensation," as they say, of $50,000 a MONTH. By the time Hunter resigned from his post this year, he had pocketed $3,000,000. Hunter Biden has exactly zero experience in the fossil fuel industry.

Now, if that was perfectly legitimate, why did Hunter resign this year? He resigned because his Dad is running for president, and they didn't want any questions about this, apparently.

The U.S. propaganda system is almost uniformly claiming there's "nothing there" and "no evidence" of anything wrong with the Bidens's Ukraine scam. At the same time, they think it is illegitimate to investigate the matter to find evidence. And the Democrats are OUTRAGED at the betrayal of the national interest, the "threat to national security" Trump committed by delaying arms delivery for a few days to the Kiev regime so they can kill more people in the breakaway eastern Ukraine, how venal that Trump acted for "personal interest," not the national interest (it was apparently in the national interest that vice president Biden's son get $3 million from a U.S. client regime) by trying to "get dirt" on a rival for the 2020 presidential election. (The power elite have already chosen Biden to run against Trump: the voters will have to be manipulated to get into line.)

By the way, "the" media almost always "forgets" to mention how much Hunter was being paid, or that he had ABSOLUTELY NO QUALIFICATIONS to be serving on the board of a Ukrainian gas company.

Except one perfect qualification: he's the son of Joseph Biden. On its face this is corrupt. You only need to know the facts I've stated.

SIX- Count 'Em. SIX!- committees in the House have been unleashed to cobble together excuses to impeach Trump. One, the "Intelligence" committee, is led by one of the most dishonest political mountebanks in the country, Adam Schiff. He's spent the past three years spewing disinformation about Russian subversion of U.S. "democracy" and (non-existent) slam dunk "evidence" "proving" Trump is a Russian agent/puppet/captive of Putin. Another committee, the Judiciary, is headed by Jerrold Nadler, who has also spent the past three years demagogically pushing the Russiagate hoax. Nadler insisted that the (actually nonexistent) Russian hack of a DNC computer was just the same as the Japanese bombing of U.S. military bases at Pearl Harbor in World War II. (Why the U.S. didn't declare war on Russia- the Democrats' man, Obama, was president at the time- Nadler didn't explain.) [2]

As in the failed Russiagate hoax, this latest pseudo-scandal rests on the thinnest tissue of actual facts. [3]

On July 25th Trump called Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky (the TV comedian who replaced billionaire president Petro Poroshenko, installed after the U.S.-sponsored coup overthrew president Viktor Yanukovych). The notes of the phone call reveal that it was friendly, and contrary to Adam "Schifty" Schiff, not at all like a "Mafia" gangster "extorting" someone. You can read it for yourself online as the notes of the government drones listening in have been made public.

A so-called "whistleblower" (a CIA officer) filed a complaint August 12th with the Inspector General in the office of the Director of National Intelligence. This CIA person was complaining about Trump's phone call to the Ukrainian president based on what other people told him. In other words, the content of the complaint is entirely hearsay. And before the Democrats even got a chance to see the transcript of the call OR the CIA officer's complaint, Pelosi announced the start of impeachment "investigations."

First the verdict, then the evidence.

This Alice In Wonderland-style political offensive against Trump is being promoted relentlessly every day by most U.S. media. They are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Trump was mainly concerned with getting facts about Ukraine's interference in the 2016 presidential election, during which they provided financial information about Paul Manafort, who was forced to resign as Trump's campaign manager as a result. (Trump went through several campaign managers, including the thuggish Corey Lewandowski, who notoriously manhandled a female reporter and is a nasty goon.) Secondarily he asked for Ukrainian cooperation with Attorney General William Barr and with Rudolph Giuliani, working as a private attorney for Trump, and who was once dubbed "America's Mayor" by that arbiter of reality, Time magazine. (Giuliani was an assistant U.S. Attorney General in the fascist Reagan regime, then U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, then New York City mayor, then a spectacularly failed presidential candidate.)

Of course, Trump and the opportunists who gather around and cling to him like dust on a dust mop are grifters just as the Democratic Party is a party of grifters. What we are seeing is a tawdry power struggle between factions of the power elite. Don't be fooled by the ludicrously grandiloquent rhetoric of Democratic Party hacks. (I'll have more on that in a later essay.)

Why is the scandal-ridden Joe Biden being protected by a solid wall of lies by "the" media and Democratic Party politicians?

Obviously because the bulk of the power establishment has already chosen him to be the next emperor- I mean president of the U.S. As a fallback, they are promoting Senator Elizabeth Warren, who projects a false front that is superficially similar to Senator Bernie Sanders, who is also running. Warren is, like Hillary Clinton, scamming the public. Secretly in bed with big money interests, she is doing a political chameleon act of sounding politically like Sanders in public. Warren recently edged ahead of Biden in the polls, so she has become the "safety" candidate for the corporate/imperialist power structure.

Thanks to the sheeplike quality of the mass of the citizenry, the next president won't be from the Green Party or the Libertarian Party. It will be either more Trump or a Democratic Party political stooge of big capital.

The U.S. oligarchy will have the populace choose between cyanide and arsenic. Let Freedom Ring!

Nancy Pelosi. "When I said 'No one is above the law,' what I MEANT
was we are going to find reasons to impeach Donald Trump."

1] The New York Times even ran an extensive expose of this matter, which has been chucked down the memory hole by U.S. media, including by the NYT itself. You'd never guess from reading any article since that it was ever published in that paper. See "Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal," NYT, April 23, 2015, and "Donations to the Clinton Foundation, and a Russian Uranium Takeover," NYT, April 22, 2015.

2] Both chambers of the U.S. Congress are structured in hierarchical fashion, with the Speaker of the House controlling that body through her various powers, such as appointing and removing committee chairs, who in turn wield power over the committees. In the Senate, the Majority Leader of whichever of the two-parties of the political cartel that monopolized political power in the U.S. has the majority of Senators, has near total control in that body. Nothing can come up for a vote unless he allows it. (Currently that person is Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, a venal being.)

The Speaker of the House is chosen by majority vote of the Representatives (Congresspeople), which in practice means the party with the majority chooses the Speaker. Obviously the Speaker has to be politically adroit so as not to alienate the members of her party. In the Senate, the caucus of the majority party chooses its leader, who in turn is effectively boss of the Senate.

The way impeachment works is this: impeachment is akin to an indictment. Under the U.S. Constitution, any Federal official can be impeached for "high crimes and misdemeanors," a completely vague term that is otherwise unexplained in that document. It is obviously subjective, yet legal "scholars" and "experts" and even run-of-the-mill politicians pontificate in tones of certainty as to what is and isn't "impeachable." In practice it is whatever the House of Representatives decides.

If a majority of the House votes to impeach, the matter is presented to the Senate for a simulacrum of a "trial." The Senate has to vote by a two-thirds majority to actually remove the accused official from office.

A handful of Federal judges who were guilty of outrageous behavior and refused to resign (they have lifetime appointments, a stupid feature of the Constitution) have been impeached, convicted, and removed from office.

Two presidents have been impeached: Andrew Johnson, a virulent racist who became president at the end of the U.S. Civil War when president Abraham Lincoln was murdered by Confederate agents AFTER the Confederacy had surrendered, and Bill "This Isn't A Pickle In My Pocket, I'm Actually Glad To See You" Clinton. Neither was convicted, so neither was removed from office.

it is virtually impossible to imagine a scenario by which Trump can be convicted in the Senate. The Senate has a Republican majority, and with a handful of exceptions, every Republican politician is slavishly behind Trump, because almost all Republican voters are enthusiastic Trump fans. Nothing is going to change that. Trump has a lifetime of experience sensing just how far he can push things, just how much he can get away with. So far, over three years of machinations by the secret police Deep State, and the relentless pushing by the Democrats and most of the corporate media of sham reasons for criminal charges or impeachment, first the Russiagate hoax, now the Ukraine phone call, have been utter failures. All the while, the valid reasons to criticize Trump (other than his chronic lying, which has been covered ad nauseam, and some but too little and too tame coverage of the atrocities of ICE and the Border Patrol) are mostly ignored.

3] Here's the unrefuted proof that there was no Russian hack of a DNC server (which the Democrats and their media foghorn accomplices inflated into "hacking the election" and "attacking Our Democracy).

  • The DNC refused to allow the FBI to examine their computer! This is supposedly the Crime of The Century, a foreign enemy "attacking Our Democracy," and the Dems withhold the evidence! So the FBI just took the word of the hired liars of the Dems, the notorious company Crowdstrike, who sent the FBI a censored ("redacted") report!

  • NO evidence was ever presented to back up the assertion of the Russian hack and subsequent appearance of the Democrats' emails in WikiLeaks, which revealed how the Democratic National Committee, while feigning neutrality in the primaries for the Democratic presidential nomination, was in fact a wholly owned subsidiary of the Clinton campaign and repeatedly cheated her main rival, Bernie Sanders. Obama's Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, hand-picked 3 "analysts," one each from FBI, CIA and NSA, to write the report which concluded, sans proof, that Russia was guilty. And the NSA was equivocal. Yet if there had been such a transfer of data from ANY U.S. computer to Russia, the NSA would have a copy of the data flow, since they collect and store ALL Internet traffic. These 3 analysts were inflated into "16 (sometimes 17) intelligence agencies say Russia hacked" and "the intelligence community concluded that Russia hacked" in the ensuing propaganda campaign.

  • Two of the NSA"s top technical officers (who were retired after long careers at the agency), William Binney and Kurt Wiebe, analyzed the download speed of the data transfer and tested to see if the Internet transfer speeds available at the time made such a transfer possible. Not even close. But the speed matched a transfer to a flash drive.

  • Seth Rich, a young Democratic Party worker who had access to the computer system and is suspected of being the one who passed the emails along to WikiLeaks, was murdered in Washington, D.C. His murder is unsolved. Out of all the thousands of murders committed annually in the U.S. each year, this is the ONLY ONE for which WikiLeaks has offered a reward for information on, $25,000. And Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, in an interview on European television, tiptoed right up to the edge of admitted that Rich was the source.

  • Most importantly, if we pretend Russia did it, that was NOT an "attack on democracy," it was a GIFT to democracy, because it enabled the American public to be BETTER INFORMED ABOUT ONE OF THE CANDIDATES, HILLARY CLINTON. It revealed her secret speech to the Goldman Sachs conference of financiers, in which she nakedly stated that she's a two-faced manipulator and that the financiers should ignore what she says in public to the dumb rubes whose votes she needs, in fact she'll be defending THEIR interests- as indeed she always has throughout her career. When she lived in Arkansas as wife of that state's Attorney General and then Governor Bill Clinton, she sat on the board of the union-hating Walmart corporation. Her class loyalties have always been evident. In college she was a Goldwater Girl, Barry Goldwater being a fascist and racist. As virtual co-president with her husband, she was foresquare behind all his class war policies and attacks especially on the black population.

The Sure Way To Get Rid of Donald J. Trump

The Democratic Party is currently in a tizzy trying to agree internally on the best way to be rid of U.S. president Donald J. Trump. A faction of the party's Congressional Representatives in the House want to impeach Trump, even though there is no hope of getting the Senate to vote to convict Trump and thus remove him from office, since this requires a vote by two-thirds of the members in that body, and virtually no Republican Senators can be expected to vote to convict their party leader, who is overwhelmingly popular with Republican voters. (Republicans currently are a majority in the 100 seat U.S. Senate.)

The other faction among the Democrats say the only way to remove Trump is by victory in the 2020 presidential election. But that too is problematic. There are 25 Democrats vying for the party's nomination, which surely will create confusion and result in a nominee lacking great stature. Plus, the GOP (Gang Of Plunderers) consistently steals elections, for president, senators, state governors, by underhanded and illegal means. They have even resorted to assassination to grab control of the Senate, as occurred with the murders of Paul Wellstone and Mel Carnahan.

This subversion by the GOP of what little democracy there is in the U.S. has been going on for two decades, and the Democrats never make a peep about it or lift a finger to counter it. Instead they have spent the past three years promoting the gigantic hoax that Russia had a major influence on the 2016 election, that it massively interfered, and that it constitutes an ongoing "threat to our democracy."

Can a political party get any lamer than that?

So with impeachment not a viable method to remove Trump from power, and the Democrats' sorry record in electoral politics, one must consider other alternatives.

So herein, A Modest Proposal.

I was musing on the life of another headstrong and ambitious individual who ruthlessly grabbed the top rung of power in an empire: Julius Caesar, Emperor of Rome.

Caesar, a ruthless general who slaughtered an estimated million people in his conquest of Gaul, committing innumerable atrocities to facilitate the Roman Empire's seizure of the area and the subjugation of its people by such methods as chopping off all the hands of male inhabitants who dared resist being conquered, made himself Emperor by marching into Rome with his army, "crossing the Rubicon" river, as the phrase memorializing his power grab has it.

A group of Roman Senators decided to eliminate this dictator, and did so by luring him onto the Senate floor, where they dispatched him with daggers. The story goes that with his dying breath he rebuked one of the assassins whom he had considered loyal, with the words "Et tu, Brute?" ("And you, Brutus?" by which Caesar meant, even you?)

I thought: what a classy way to free the nation of Trump if Senators would emulate their Roman counterparts of two millenniums ago!

Just imagine the scene: Trump, lying on the floor of the Senate like a beached whale or mortally wounded buffalo, his blood oozing out in an expanding puddle on the marble floor, his killers standing over his body in their expensive suits, observing their handiwork.

If he has any sense of classical history- and he went to "good" schools, so he should- the words on Trump's dying lips could be, "Et tu, Mitch?"

But no way Republican Senators would turn on Trump, whom they fear. Their "base" would surely avenge such treachery against their idol. And they have guns, lots of guns.

So what would Trump gasp out as he lay dying? "Et tu, Chuck?" That makes no sense. He doesn't expect loyalty from Schumer. And Schumer, being a Democrat, is far too timid and compromised to take bold action, ever. So we wouldn't get the wonderful historical bookend, the reverberation from millenniums past, that would make this so satisfying. Besides, the Democrats are renowned for their cupidity, so surely that would stay their hands.

I suppose we'll just have to see if the Democrats let the Republicans steal another presidential election through chicanery, voter suppression, and the like, as they did in 2000, 2004, and 2016.

And if the Democrats "lose" again, they'll just pretend that RUSSIA did it! BLAME IT ON RUSSIA!! THEY'RE UNDERMINING OUR DEMOCRACY!! In fact, they are already preparing the ground to blame an upcoming loss on Russia, running around saying that the "threat" is "still there," and that Trump is "doing nothing to protect our democracy." Various media propagandists and secret police types peddle the same lurid threat-mongering.

It's contemptible and pathetic.

Trump better hope past is not prologue. Sometimes bullies end up badly.

Trump, Increasingly Cornered, Lashes Out With Curse-Filled 2-Hour Rant/Whine At Reactionary Convention

That actually is the most accurate, and succinct, description of Trump's behavior at the so-called CPAC convention. CPAC is a gathering of extremely reactionary, malevolent, irrational people, part of the hard rightwing political power structure of the U.S. (CPAC stands for Conservative Political Action Conference. It is held annually by a viciously reactionary outfit called the "American Conservative Union.")

"Conservative" is the standard euphemism in "Western Liberal" discourse for reactionary and fascist. And "anti-communist" is code for fascist.

Trump whined in a loud bray about his business dealings being investigated. His distress is easy to comprehend. So many of his "deals" involved crimes, and even those that didn't often went up to the line of criminality. One of the constants of Trump's life is a total absence of ethics. And now the Democratic Party is belatedly using his vulnerability against him, after squandering two years with a phone "Russiagate" fantasy conspiracy. By pressing this sinister fantasy of Trump as under Putin's control, based on the thinnest of evidence (often no evidence), the Democrats not only wasted time, they wrecked their own credibility and now allows Trump to push the theme that he's a victim of persecution- an emotional theme with natural resonance for reactionaries, who have a persecution complex and see themselves as victims of an oppressive "liberal" establishment, forced to pay for (black and Hispanic) "welfare cheats," etc.

We really didn't need Michael Cohen to tell us about Trump's crimes, or that he's a con man and a racist. The information has been publicly available for years, such as in the reportage of Wayne Barrett and David Cay Johnston. Oddly, that information was always ignored by the establishment. Trump's fraudulent "charitable" foundation, his tax frauds and false valuations, and other actions that should have brought government action, almost never did. (One of the only rare exceptions, maybe the ONLY one, was a consent decree that Trump and his late father entered into with the Federal government, promising to cease their illegal practice of refusing to rent apartments to African-Americans, an agreement they then went on to violate, with no consequences.)

Trump was also caught helping people illegally evade sales taxes. He got out of that one by ratting out others. (These days he decries "rats" and says prosecutors' "flipping" people, i.e. getting criminals to turn state's evidence, "should almost be illegal." The weasel word "almost" doesn't disguise the fact that he devoutly wishes it were illegal now. Just as he's called for harsher libel laws favoring plaintiffs, so he could more effectively shut up those who expose the true facts about him or merely criticize him.)

The fact that a crook, grifter, tax evader, chiseler, four-time bankrupt, and serial fraudster could even RUN for president, much less get elected, is due to the malfeasance and irresponsibility of the bourgeois "authorities" who looked the other way for this man's entire life, until now. [1]

Trump didn't expect to actually become president. Now he is desperate to cling to power. He has to try to run out the clock on indictments, by getting reelected president until the statute of limitations runs out on many of his crimes. (The legal consensus is a sitting president "can't" be indicted, even though nothing explicitly bars that in law or the Constitution.) The Republicans in the Senate will never vote to convict him if the House impeaches him- because the GOP base of voters is fanatically devoted to him, and no facts can change that. They just don't care about facts or truth. This degree of unshakeable loyalty is reminiscent of that commanded by Adolf Hitler.

But could Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, who are currently investigating certain matters about Trump, obtain a secret indictment, and unseal it after he leaves office? An interesting question.

And what happens if magically Trump is removed? We get a reactionary theocrat as president, Michael Pence!

1] I would argue that Trump's repeated "business" practice of stiffing his suppliers and contractors by pretending something was wrong with their work is evidence of criminal fraud. As for taxes, Trump's father Fred and Trump and his siblings created a multi-generational ongoing tax fraud. See "Special Investigation-Trump Engaged in Suspect Tax Schemes as He Reaped Riches From His Father," New York Times, October 2, 2018; "11 Takeaways From The Times’s Investigation Into Trump’s Wealth," New York Times, October 2, 2018.

One Cheer For Larry Flynt

Larry Flynt has paid for an ad in the Washington Post offering $10 million for information leading to the impeachment of Donald Trump. The ad says "it's every American's duty to remove Trump before it's too late." It calls Trump, accurately "the most powerful moron in history" who has told "hundreds of bare-faced lies," an indisputable fact. (Trump's own hand-picked Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, has called Trump "a fucking moron" in private.) [1]

So far, I've only heard this reported on the BBC, the British government's propaganda network. Why the silence on all these U.S. stations that are trying to get rid of Trump? They surely noticed the ad in the Washington Post, one of the premiere U.S. newspapers at the top of the media prestige pyramid and a major billboard for elite opinion and "news."

Flynt made his fortune as proprietor of Hustler magazine, the most vulgar by far of the former Big Three U.S. porno mags, Playboy and Penthouse being the other two. All three are now faded relics of their former selves thanks to the endless supply of free sexual content on the Internet. I don't think it is fair to label Playboy at least "pornography," unless one considers photos of naked women obscene per se.

Flynt was shot and rendered a paraplegic by a would-be assassin some years ago. This was after he offered a $1 million reward for information on the JFK assassination. After he was shot, that effort came to nothing with the publication of a piece of nonsensical disinformation on the assassination in Hustler.

Let me explain something; if I were really a MORON, I wouldn't have figured out that
could grab women's pussies and get away with it! Right? Right? Gimme a break!

Memo To Trump Impeachment Pushers: Be Careful What You Wish For

Who do you imagine will succeed "The Donald" if you succeed?

Mike Pence, the religious fanatic and extreme reactionary, becomes president.

Pence's domestic policies will be every bit as bad, and probably worse in some areas (such as the war against abortion rights) than Trump's.

On foreign policy, at least Trump is internally divided. He has "isolationist" (noninterventionist) impulses, so part of the time you get that, while at other times you get a violent lashing out, as the attack on the Assad regime airfield in Syria after the sarin attack by that regime- my only complaint about that Trump attack is that it was ineffectual. Plus, Trump isn't particularly interested in foreign policy. Therefore U.S. imperialism under Trump would probably be less focuses, less intense, and less assiduously imposed everywhere possible at all times than is the norm. Which is a MAJOR REASON the power establishment (political, media, and Deep State, which includes the military and secret police organizations) is so intent on hamstringing or, if possible, ousting Trump.

Pence can be expected to be much like Reagan and the Bushes on foreign policy; aggressively violent, employing the military and CIA very extensively.

Even worse, is that Pence projects a low-key, non-threatening, friendly and placid demeanor. In a word, he comes across as amiable. Thus he will be the more effective evil. Just as Obama was the more effective evil than Bush II, or than McCain or Romney would have been. Simply put, the "nice guy" personas of state criminals like Obama and Pence simply don't arouse the public opposition that Republicans generally and especially politicians who come across as intense do.

So Trump is a horror, but Pence would be worse.

By the way, Obama was a horror, Bush the Younger was a horror, Clinton was a horror, Bush the Elder was a horror, Reagan the fascist was a horror, Ford helped Indonesia invade East Timor and exterminate a third of the population (with Kissinger at his side, a policy continued by Clinton), Nixon (enough said), Johnson sent a 550,000 invasion force into Vietnam, and invaded the Dominican Republic to reverse an election he didn't like, and arranged for military dictatorship in Brazil, a U.S. plot begun by Kennedy, who created a U.S. torturer-training program in Latin America under the rubric of the "Alliance for Progress," and Eisenhower was responsible for the CIA coups in Iran (1953) and Guatemala (1954) which ushered in two of the world's most murderous dictatorship, a quarter million people murdered in each case, and the consequences still being suffered by the peoples of those countries to this day. Truman, the man who atomic-bombed two cities, enough said- and I could go back and back, indeed all the way to Washington, but there are too many, and the crimes are literally in the tens of thousands. because imperialism is a criminal enterprise, and  the U.S. was imperialist from the beginning, when white colonizers "discovered" the Western Hemisphere, and  eliminated in North American over 90% of the people whose ancestors predated the Europeans' arrival by 15,000 years, in order to seize the land and resources.

The point is, Trump is not uniquely bad. That's the establishment line, because he's unpredictable and not anchored to their ideology. That means there are possibilities for cracks in the system to open. That is one reason people instinctively voted for him- on the hope he would "shake things up." Of course he won't deliver on his promises, but he IS a destabilizing presence in the White House. If nothing else, the attention of the criminal rulers is somewhat diverted by their obsession with demonizing, "investigating," undermining, neutralizing, and ultimately ousting him. That gives the world's population a bit of breathing space, or a lessening in the intensity of U.S. attacks (including perhaps domestic dissidents, with the FBI and CIA and NSA prioritizing their conspiracies against Trump).

The U.S. is a nation founded on the twin pillars of genocide and slavery, which has, with the immense power it has amassed, a world-historic opportunity to change the nature of civilization, but instead is simply repeating the same millenia-old game of domination, exploitation, and oppression. (By the way, committing genocide has been a very good way to get to the White House. For example, Andrew Jackson, exterminator of the Creek Indians, got to be President, as did William Henry Harrison, who destroyed the Confederacy of Northwest Tribes and oversaw the elimination of the charismatic native leader Tecumseh.)

In America now, we see a colossal waste of power and the squandering of a world-historic opportunity to change the world for the better.  And what a lack of ambition this bespeaks. The ambition to do something truly great and world-changing. With its unparalleled power, the U.S. could put humanity on a truly civilized path. Instead Americans prefer to delude themselves that their nation-state (and by extension, themselves) are "great" simply because they are powerful. But since the power is largely (not entirely) used for evil, their "greatness" is of a piece with the "greatness" of the Soviet Union and the Third Reich. It may be awesome, but it is not admirable. It is anti-human, as we see even today, yet again, with President Trump and his Secretary of State, Rex "Gusher" Tillerson, praising the Saudi oppressors, among the very worst in the world, while simultaneously, with the maximal hypocrisy typical of the U.S. government, slamming Iran for its repression and "terrorism." (Trump and his gang talk as if IRAN is behind ISIS and Al-Qaeda, not Saudi Arabia!)

The blather and bullshit sure gets repetitive after awhile.

Too bad so many of the fellow travelers of the Democratic Party, who should know better, are mindlessly parroting the propaganda lines of that Party and its secret police temporary allies-of-convenience. (Rather stunning to hear Democracy Now boss Amy Goodman repeatedly saying the phrase "Russian meddling" in the U.S. election!)

Maybe putting things in historical and political perspective would help them think more clearly. No need to take sides in a battle between Godzilla and Mothra.  (Trump and his establishment enemies.) The proper response is to illuminate what is happening, including the real causes of the conflict, to report objectively and demystify the show that is being presented in the Bourgeois Media Theater.
